I believe that hoof care is one of the most vulnerable things we ask of our horses. Not only are we holding up their hoof, thus altering their balance and restricting their movement, but we are also asking them to trust that what we do with that hoof is going to make them feel better and not worse. I take the horse's trust very seriously and strive to make hoofcare an emotionally and physically comfortable experience for each horse. For all of the services I offer, the horse always has the final say: rather than adhering to a particular image of what "the perfect hoof" should look like, I believe that since the horse is the one that has to live in their feet, the trim or hoof protection I put on their hoof has to work for their body and their movement.
All of my services include watching the horse move before and after the trim, observing how they position themselves standing still, taking note of wear patterns and hoof growth since the previous trim, and taking into account their diet, living environment, exercise, and more.
Barefoot Trims:
I prefer to trim most horses on a 4-5 week cycle.
Horses and Minis: $65
Draft Horses: $75
Composite (Glue-On) Shoes:
The pricing varies depending on what your horse's needs are and the shoeing package we decide will best fit their needs. The following prices include the trim:
Two front shoes start at $200
All four shoes start at $325
Transitioning to Barefoot:
If you have a horse in metal shoes that you would like to transition to barefoot, I am happy to help you find the best options for hoof protection for your horse to help them transition smoothly.
